Raymond> LyX qt needs KDE even if I mainly use WindowMaker...
That is very very strange... I do not see how KDE could interfere with LyX in this way.
KDE has a "international keyboard tool". Everytime I tried to use it, I screwed up my keyboard completely, but my colleagues use it sucessfully to switch between different keyboard layouts. This could explain why a kde upgrade affected the dead keys, but I too do not see any reason why "LyX qt needs KDE".
I have done the same KDE upgrade and I have not experienced the reported problem. It might have happened that Qt was not updated accordingly. (I remember that I also upgraded something related with Qt - libraries, perpahs - when I was upgrading KDE.)
