While non-available document classes are hidden in the Format>Document dialog (managed by the lyx configuration process), this selective display doesnot work for the templates. This is why some templates in LYX_DIR/templates/ might not work on your system. Do you have elsart.sty or elsart.cls on your system? (If everything is set up right, an appropriate Document-Type [article (Elsevier)?] should show in the Format>Documents dialog. Günter -- G.Milde at web.de
