  This is a syntom that lyx cann't see where the sgmtools are placed. I 
guess that this is a problem with the path not pointing to its location.

  I have seen OS X implementation of lyx before ans this was almost always 
the cause for it not working as it should. I saw the same problem before to 
detect latex, as an example. My suggestion is to try to join the tips 
related with latex instalation with those from sgmltools instalation.

  I'm CC'ing this message to Jean-Marc as he knows both the detection code 
and the port to OS X.
