Although R Saunders' (thanks Rob) document is quite comprehensive,
using lyx under Windows as a main document processor for a department
or section has a lot of obstacles of many types in which you have to
invest time and effort. It's a pity, since the majority of desktops
are in windows and lyx would be quite useful in ANY academical
environment and in a lot of bussiness environments.

I am working in a brief installation documentation in Spanish and I am
considering possibilities for creating a, let's see, self-installing
"distribution". In other words, a Miktex+Ghostcript+Sed+ImageMagick
package that you just have to download and pulse "install". Any
advice?
