Getting the tempdir stuff right is a major pain.

Without the tempdir it is e.g. hard to tell which files are created y
intermediate steps and need to be cleaned up afterwards. Copying
everything to a temporary directory gives us a 'cleaner working
environment'.

The problem now is, of course, to decide what 'dependent' files should
be copied, too. [And as long as LyX doesn't include all its dependencies
it's hard to throw the first stone...]

In this particular we could probably work around somehow as the .fig
file is human readable...
