Problems installing memoir class

I'm using LyX Aqua 1.3.4, and I'm having trouble getting LyX to 
recognize the memoir class I downloaded from CTAN. I've followed the 
installation instructions in the package, followed the instructions in 
Customizing LyX, re-run Edit->Reconfigure, restarted LyX, and it still 
isn't showing up as installed in Help->LaTeX Configuration.

What's strange is when I run the configuration script in 
/Applications/Lyx.app/Contents/Resources/LyX, it finds the class:
+checking for document class memoir [memoir]... yes

However, it's still not appearing in Help->LaTeX Configuration, and 
it's listed as Unavailable in the Document class drop-down in 
Layout->Document.

Anyone have any ideas on what's going wrong?
