What platform are you using?  With the native Win32 port, this seems to 
be a known (and unsolvable?) issue with the port of Qt.  It only affects 
certain symbols (the equality sign being a particularly annoying one).  
I've managed to get readable math on a not entirely reliable basis by 
cranking the screen zoom to 200% (leaving DPI at 96), but that also 
drastically reduces how much is visible on screen.  Oddly enough, 
sometimes cranking the zoom *down* also works (provided my aged eyes can 
read the tiny print).
