Conversion word -> latex works quite well (far better than wvClaenLaTeX) if you use Staroffice/OpenOffice.Org to convert from word to OpenOffice.org Writer format and then use writer2latex (see http://www.hj-gym.dk/~hj/writer2latex/) to convert to LaTeX.
I even got formulas right. Although my OpenOffice.org had some problems to display them correctly, writer2latex understood them.
Georg - do you know of any way to convert latex to rtf or doc that does better than latex2rtf? My tables and figures get messed up using latex2rtf... bib also does but that's not too much of a concern right now.. I tried exporting from LyX to HTML and then opened that in Openoffice and that looked better (some of the math was still messed up).. I then exported it to sxw (writer format) and then opened the sxw file and saved as .doc but when I open the doc file, it's completely messed up - the text flows vertically down for some reason.. that may have to do with Openoffice's saveas feature so I'll have to play around with it or try the cvs version... thought I'd check on the list in the meanwhile ..
Thanks, nirmal
