I actually didn't get a file. I got a bunch of text with backslashes and such. I
thought you meant to send it that way.

Here's the problem. If I put that in Typewriter font, but not LyX Code, I can't type
spaces to indent correctly. If I put it in LyX Code, then the (a) and (b) disappear.

Still confused,
Todd

If you couldn't open that file, (maybe) we have too different versions of LyX. Mine is
1.3.2 for window$. But, in any case, what you want is not difficult at all. All you
have to do is use a linebreak at the end of each codeline. You can do this by typeing
<Ctrl Enter> at the end of the line:

1) Which of the following does foo?

   a) This is code [type <Ctrl Enter> here]
this is more code and should be lined up with [type <Ctrl Enter> here]
      the code

   b) more code [type <Ctrl Enter> here]
      code with b

2) Next question

I think you know that, selecting "Layout>Increasing Environment Depth" you can make
nested enumerated lists like the one above.

Hope this helps you,
Luiz

Excuse the very stupid question. How do I open that in LyX?

I think the attached file here is what you want.

I'm creating a multiple choice test, in which I'd like to put code
examples right after an Enumeration letter, i.e.

1. Which of the following does foo?
    (a) This is code
this is more code and should be lined up with the code
above
    (b) more code
          code with (b)
2. Next question
