Thanks Herbert for your help. However, it seems i was not clear enough with my question, my apologies. What i wanted was the Caption in the Figure to be 1.1.1 and the reference in the text as 1.1.1(a). If you see my original file, the reference in the text is coming out to be 1.1(a) and not 1.1.1(a). The structure i have followed in my report is, for captions i use Chapter. Section.Figure Number , i dont know if this is the correct way to write captions when using chapters.
