What do you have in Layout/Document/Language?

Try to export document into LaTeX (File/Export/LaTeX) and then run in
xterm

ispell -d nederlands -t filename.tex

Does it work?

It works for me without any particular settings for Czech. What is
a content of /usr/lib/ispell (or wherever FreeBSD stores dictionaries
for ispell)?
