Dear all,

I realize that there has already been a lot of trafic
regarding how to get the Lyx to display the
mathsymbols correctly rather than as latex commands
(eg display greek alpha rather than red text alpha
etc). I have read through the messages in the
archives, tried some things out but to no avail. This
is undoubtedly partly to be blamed on my inexperience
with linux. In any case if anyone would be so kind to
have the patience to tell me how to do it I would
appreciate it greately.

I'm running suse 8.2/xd2 and I tried installing the
rpm with the fonts. That doesn't work because rpm says
that fontconfig is not found. trying to install
fontconfig doesn't work because it says that some of
the files are already installed in xfree86.

So I tried installing from source. ./configure works
fine but then make fails due to many different
messages.

what can i do?

h.
