I've had this happen to my documents, and I did figure out a way around it, but I don't remember what it was for certain: I think I selected "pslatex" font. I can tell you what the difference is: the pages with fuzzy text are the ones with bitmap images on them. Something (ghostscript?) is rasterizing the text when there is an image on the page. -- L. R.
