I didn't even know there was a "qtconfig" :p. I changed the default font (which, by the way, was Avant Garde) to Helvetica, and the problem dissapeared. Anyway, it only happens when you have a certain font (e.g. Avant-garde), and pre-visualizing of equations, and you use calligraphic font in maths. That triggered the diversion.

The fonts it uses for menus is kind of courier, but every underlined letter is changed for a funny symbol, like stars checkmarks etc. -those you can find in the symb fonts-.
Does anybody know how can I change this? I am using debian with metacity-gnome2, and the LANG is spanish, if that matters.
Run qtconfig and select a different default font.
