LyX 1.2.1 is in the ports collection for 4.7-RELEASE and 5.0-RELEASE. The latest CVS version of the ports collection has LyX 1.2.3 (it was updated a week ago, I think). Or, you could use pkg_add to add the precompiled LyX 1.2.1 package for FreeBSD from ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/4.7-RELEASE/packages/print/lyx-1.2.1.tgz
