Sorry, to be more exact: there _is_ a status bar, but it is
completely empty. Always. All these once familiar messages (on
previous computer and under GNOME) like "LaTeXing document...",
"Running bibtex..." etc. (these are not exact quotations, I have
gettext on) are non-showing at all. Just blank space under my
document.
