Probably a stupid question (wouldn't be my first), but is notebook2e.sty visible on your LaTeX search paths on the home machine? If you're using a Win32 installation, try typing 'kpsewhich notebook2e.sty' and see if it finds the path. If not, the problem lies with LaTeX and not with LyX; you need to update your lsr files.
