I think what you may be looking for is the fancy header.. so, in Layout->Document, choose "fancy" for Pagestyle. Then check out the manual for fancy header.. (if it's not already on your system then just put a google search for fancyhdr)

Some ideas ? Handling images is more simple under lyx 1.2.0 ?
