Try "man gs" for information on this. AFAIK, the configuration must be done for/in latex. As the default fonts are bitmapped, the resolution must be set when *producing* the ps file (or already for the dvi(?)). If you have tetex installed, you can start texconfig and go to DVIPS and set the right printer (including the resolution) Another option is to use the pslatex fonts (which are vectorized and give also a nice screen output with acrobat).
