Consider whether the package pslatex would not be better for your
purposes (which redefines Times to be \rmdefault, Helvetica to
\sfdefault, and Courier to \ttdefault, so that you can use
traditional LaTeX commands \textrm, \textsf, and \texttt, and so
keep at least some WYSIWYM quality of your document).
