LyX-1.1.6fix4 configure problem

"configure" complains that my compiler is not powerful enough to
compile libsigc++. I have tried Hewlett-Packard CC as well as
GNU-cc (version 2.7.1). Which compiler can be recommended for
getting LyX installed?
