Use koma-script (scrbook or scrreport) with the option nochapterprefix. If you don't like the sans-serif headings, write in preamble \renewcommand*{\sectfont}{\bfseries} (for the interested: I have also a lyx .layout for scrclass with roman headings.) GM -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]
