How can I have a new font selection - in my case "garramond" - appear in the Fonts selection menu, under the Document Layout popup window ? I have checked with my system manager who says that the fonts are in place for LaTeX to find: "the text font metric sand the virtual font files for these fonts are in place and should be found by latex.
