Herbert, Thank you for responding. I want to make sure that I understand. After sending my message, I checked for draftcopy.sty and found that the build installed a copy for me: /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/misc/draftcopy.sty > run make from within this new directory and than texhash. So, if I understand correctly, I can build the package anywhere as long as I put the final copy of the .sty file in (for my system) /usr/share/texmf/tex/lates/misc/. Then I need to run texhash. Do I have this correct? I found several other packages on CTAN that I would like to install so they're available, too. That's why I want to be sure that I understand just what to do with each one.
