Sorry for sending this to Herbert directly, I was too quick clicking to respond key.
Here are some more details of my problem: The RPMs downloaded from Kayvan's site showed the following behaviour: dvipdfm-0.13.2b-1 (- nodeps) seemed to install xforms-0.88-3 installed OK lyx-1.1.6fix3-1 hanged, kpackage became a zombie (could not even be killed) tetex-extras-1.0-7: script exited with error status 127 tetex-lyx-1.1.6fix3-1 hanged I would like to ask wether anybody else had similar problems installing LyX-1.1.6fix3 on a Caldera Open Linux 3.1 system. Or could somebody give me an indication which source packages I do need to generate a running version on my new Caldera system (IBM Think Pad T22) TIA Hellmut >Date: Wed, 17 Oct 2001 22:05:30 +0200 >To: Herbert Voss <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >From: Hellmut Weber <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Subject: Re: LyX Package for Caldera Open LINUX 3.1 >Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > >Hi Herbert, >thanks for your response. >I had to be offline for a week, that's why I answer only today. > >Installing LyX-1.1.6fix3 was the first thing I tried. > >The packet manager gives an message about objects >'tetex' and 'tetex-latex' >which are needed by lyx-1.1.6fix3 (and by tetex-extras), >but which seem not to be available on my Caldera Open LINUX 3.1 system. > >There are corresponding packages on my old RedHat system >but when trying to install tetex-1.0.6 I get an error message >'tmpwatch' and 'sbin/install-info' missing. > >While I probably could do without tmpwatch which looks for >files not in use for a certain period of time I don't have any clue >whether it makes sense to omit the 'install-info' program (it is not >a shell script, so I couldn't get any idea what it is doing exactly. > > >Later I tried to install LyX-1.1.6fix3-1 (downloaded from Kayvan's site) >without respecting the dependencies: No success. >And in the comments of 'tetex-lyx' it is mentioned explicitely >"This package contians the LaTeX files for LyX installed in the normal >place that the RedHat tetex package is installed and would see it." > >The Caldera Open LINUX version of tetex is in /opt/ teTeX (not tetex), >maybe that's the whole problem, but I'm not able to solve it. > >Greetings > >Hellmut > >At 20:31 09.10.01 +0200, you wrote: >>Hellmut Weber wrote: >> > >> > I switched from RedHat 6.2 on a TOSHIBA TECRA 750 DVD >> > to Caldera Open LINUX 3.1 on a IBM Think Pad T22. >> > >> > I'm using LyX for all my private documents for quite a while now >> > and am very satisfied (1.1.6pre1).
