I use jpilot for a Palm m100(standard in Mandrake, otherwise google will
get it). Works great, has a very nice "desktop" interface, and does one
thing Palm's own software doesn't do: a true 100% backup of the handheld.
It has already saved me a lot of grief after I inadvertedly ran out of
batteries once. I don't know if it will work with the HandEra, give it a
try.

By the way, I wish you good luck on what you want to do with Lyx and
handheld editing, but I'm not very optimistic. Most document converters are
somewhat imperfect, and trying to go back and forth between two different
formats is typically a recipe for disaster. In most cases you can get away
with one conversion, but doing Lyx->Other_format->Editing->Lyx I suspect is
*very* likely to give you lots of grief. Again, good luck, and maybe drop a
line when you are further ahead letting us know if you got it to work
without as a real day to day system.

Regards,

Fernando.
