Because LyX is better (at least for me). I am able to write in 
LaTeX (and occassionally do so, when not on Linux), but when I 
really want to write something intelligible it is much more 
simple to write in LyX with all LaTeX garbage hidden (maybe, it 
is leftover from my years spent with Word, but I really prefer 
clean text to read).
