From what I understand LyX itself can't force your document to print duplex.
The settings that you have found just format the margins and page number
positions etc so that if printed duplex the document will look nice (eg. in a
book you normally would have the page numbers on the unbound edge of the page)
There are a number of ways to print duplex. You can include a header file in
your postscript file before sending it to the printer telling it to be
duplex. I think you can also specify certain options to the dvips package
that will make your postscript file duplex. The nicest way I found to do it
using LyX was to use a LaTeX package that I found on the web. You simply put
a command in your LaTeX preamble telling it to include this package and you
can print duplex (long edge or short edge).
