Just make shure that a single letter (eg a dot .) is behind your 
cursor position when pressing ENTER
1.a) blabla blahblah bla_.
                        ^^__Thats a character _behind_ cursor 
                        |   Position
                        |__Thats your cursor position

And LyX will go on witth 1.b)
