The problem isn't the instant preview, but the pdf rendering. If I try
to compile (by means of pdflatex) the attached file I get an error.
The problem is the blank line between the two formulas. If you remove
it, or put a protected space there, or even a comment, the file compiles.
This is a probably a bug in the LaTeX package. I'll report it on devel.
