The error message implies that you are using an older version of LyX to open a document created with a newer version. This can happen, for example, if you have used LyX 2.4 to create the document and then open it using LyX 2.3 (that not the latest stable release). So I suspect that you have used different versions and thus that is where the problem comes from. What is the version of LyX that you are using to open the file?
