I'd like to update to the latest version of Lyx (2.4) in order to use the new counter manipulation feature <https://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/NewInLyX24#counters>.
But I have a potentially delicate configuration in my current version that I cannot afford to mess up. What is the recommended way to install the new version without screwing up the old version, and allowing to revert to the old version if necessary? Currently on Lyx 2.3.3 and Mac OS 14.6.1.
