Paul, This is a new installation of the OS on the laptop. There is no TeXLive2023 anywhere. And the only reference to texlive is the TEXLIVEPATH in ~/.bash_profile. I've no idea where `echo $PATH' could find a texlive/2023/ directory since none exists. Sigh.
