Hi Scott, Genius workaround! Following your suggestion, I created a different user directory where I added an additional line `\use_converter_needauth false` to the preference file. Running `lyx` with the `-userdir` argument pointing toward the new user directory perfectly solved the problem. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your help.
