+1 Most mail lists require a subscription to post messages. This is certainly reasonable. Even when an occasional LyX user has a question or problem and wants help from mail list subscribers, it's not askting too much to have them subscribe. They could always unsubscribe if they don't want to continue receiving messages. One apparently recent list change I'd like to see reversed is having the Reply-To address point to the sender and the From address to the mail list. Since it's the general practice to respond to threads by sending to the list the default of Reply-To should be the mail list. At least, that's the way it's always been in pine and alpine.
