Patrick, Then you apparently have no personal word list/dictionary. On my system I have: $ find . -name pwl*.dict ./.lyx/pwl_american.dict ./.lyx/pwl_english.dict When you check spelling in a document have you ever added a new word that's not in the default dictionary?
