Hi Ehud, Please bottom-post (https://wiki.lyx.org/FAQ/ListNetiquette#tofu). Indeed, it is difficult and frustrating to transition to a new way of doing things. You might just want to stick with an older version of LyX until you have the time and energy to deal with the transition and to read Help > Specific Manuals > Beamer Presentations. If you send us a minimal example, and describe exactly what you would like to achieve as the end goal, we can tell you the "new" way of doing things. It's always fun to argue whether the new way of doing things is better/worse than the old way, but let's separate that discussion from "how do accomplish things in the new way?". As for just needing a separator, I'm not sure that manually inserting a separator is the best way to accomplish what you want to do in the *new* way of using Beamer in LyX.
