Riki, I had assumed that because longtable can have captions so could graphics. Now I know that's not so. Of course, not all figures require captions so setting 'stick me right here!' in the document settings works. In my current document not all the figures are in the appendix and I might have to move the placement of the others if they disrupt text streaming. Thanks for the insights, Rich
