Hi Bernhard, Good investigation. I just realized one thing that might be relevant. On Ubuntu, the "lyx" package depends on a package "fonts-lyx". Perhaps one of the fonts in there would solve your problem? I really don't know if it's likely to help, but it might be worth a short.
