If you are writing your tikzcd code as "raw" LaTeX, try surrounding the
Roman numerals with '\text{}'. In a math inset in LyX, you can type the
numerals, select them and type ctrl-M (at least with the default
keyboard mapping) to switch them back to text, or you can type '\text'
followed by a space to get a text inset nested in the math inset.
