polish keyboard

i have netbsd 1.5, lyx 1.1.2 from pkgsrc, polish fonts and polish keyboard
defined with Xmodmap.
and i can't set keyboard properly
\screen_font_encoding "iso-8859-2" allows me to display polish characters.

but lyX does not accept polish chars from keyboard (alt-<letter>)
when keyboard is set to polish i could type polish chars with /character.
how to make lyX accept polish chars ?
