(But LeftMargin still >has no effect at all.) lyxlist is an environment and it's called with a labelwidth, which is valid for _all_ following items in the actual environment! LyX takes the first (seen in layout->paragraph->Labelstring) labelstring and call \begin{lyxlist}{labelstring}...\end{lyxlist} this depends to the latex definition of a list-environment \begin{list}{standard-label}{list definitions like labelwidth a.s.o.} ... all items \end{list} therefore it's not a correct behaviour, when lyx allows to change the labelwidth inside a list environment.
