On my Windows box (yes, I am East of the Paradise, for a while :-) and using Acrobat
Reader 4.0, there are no problems with text (File/Info/Fonts shows that, they are
Type1 Helevetica and Times-Roman), but the pictures are exceedinlgy ugly (smeared and
reddish). Same with GhostScript (GSView 3.4 and GhostScript 6.01).
Did you try to recreate the page with pdflatex and hand made png pictures?
