Walter, First, did you examine the error log to see the details? Second, this frequently occurs when you have an unintended character, such as a digbat, inserted in the document or you're missing a package. Try reducing the letter to a minimal document that compiles, then incrementally add text until you discover the problem area. HTH, Rich
