If LyX is installed, it should appear in the "Office" submenu, not apps ->
publishing. (The Mandrake menu system takes a little time to get used to,
but is OK once you do, IMO. For example, LyX is in "office" but gv in
"publishing") You can try rerunning menudrake if you don't see it there.
Try to invoke lyx from the terminal emulator as Carl suggested. If no LyX
appears, then it is not installed, but can be found on the Mandrake cd's -
install it via rpmdrake (rather than other package managers), as it can
immediately suggest the correct cd for you. I really don't know if
Mandrake installs LyX by default (I do :) , and if so, if it prefers LyX
or <shudder> KLyX, which are both present on the cd's.
