Then I suggest a complete restart: 1. uninstall LyX _completely_ (including the user preferences) 2. uninstall MiKTeX _completely_ (use the "tidy up thoroughly" option) 3. check the Windows registry that there are no traces of LyX and MiKTeX 4. reinstall MiKTeX using the latest installer: http://mirrors.ctan.org/systems/win32/miktex/setup/basic-miktex-2.9.5872.exe 5. open an Internet connection 6. reinstall LyX using the latest installer: http://ftp.lyx.de/LyX%202.1.4/LyX-214-Installer-5.exe This should work. regards Uwe
