3) Use our own metafile2eps with wine as documented in http://wiki.lyx.org/Windows/MetafileToEPSConverter. LyX will do eps->pdf automatically. The documentation is for linux, but I see no reason why it should not be applicable to OS X as well. 4) Find out how to use libreoffice on the command line to convert from emf to eps or pdf: libreoffice can read emf files even on non-windows platforms, and it is scriptable, so this should be possible in theory, but I have no idea whether it really works.
