I am familiar with LyX and the placement and use of floats such as figures.
My question concerns the placement of the label (for cross referencing
the text to the figure) in the ERT representing the tikz figure and its
further description. Perhaps I miss something fundamental.
If somebody has a tikz figure (in ERT) as an example with a such a label
which could help me to understand it, I would appreciate it a lot.
The ERT goes in a float, and the label goes in the float caption. I would
attach an example, but I use GMANE to access the list, and it provides no
facility for adding attachments. Instead, I placed the example here:

Thanks, Paul, now I got it: I do everything as in a normal figure float except
that I replace the figure with the ERT representing the tikz figure. So easy!
