Thanks for the further example, Herbert. I agree \arraystretch
is a better solution to this particular problem. My concern at
this point is whether I've correctly installed the upgrade to LyX.
I can View dvi on the whole Help->Extended file just fine. so the
problem must somehow be in the tiny example I gave in my earlier
note. Differences I notice between my example and yours: mine has no
\preamble or \end_preamble commands; yours has all the \newline and
\latex latex commands, etc. I generated my example by doing
File->Export->as LaTeX...; would I get something more like yours by
exporting differently?
Should my LyX be making those commands? Am I invoking it incorrectly
somehow, or do I not have it configured properly? I just installed
from the rpm (rpm -U --nodeps ...) as root; then added the dropping
and wrapfig packages to the configure.in and doc/LaTeXConfig.in
files, ran texhash and .../lyx/configure, as well as Reconfigure from
the LyX options menu. Dropping and wrapfig are the only two CTAN
packages I've installed, and dropping is the only one I've actually used.
I didn't update xdvi or xforms---rpm told me my xforms was newer
than the download from sylvan.com.
I confess I haven't read all the new docs from cover to cover;
I just checked that my old documents seemed to work and plunged
into the Extended file. I'm now working my way through the new
User Guide, and I should probably just shut up until I've been
through it all. :)
I was just puzzled that I could make LyX hang like that.
Every error I've made in the past has produced nice error messages.
