I am using LyX for quite a while now (about 2 years) and have
recently updated to 1.0.4. I applied both patches (1 and 2) and
everything seemed to be fine, everything worked etc.
Last week I proof-read an 80 page document with hundreds of
formulas. Some I set using the LaTeX-Mode (eqnarray is missing in
LyX). As I am not that advanced with TeX and since it were rather
complex formulas, there were some errors. LyX displayed them, I
corrected them, everything seemed fine until I discovered that there
were some missing letters!!!! Just two hours ago I had done a
complete spell checking on the document and corrected all typos.
After LyX displayed these errors, a lot of letters vanished. A new
spell check revealed, that they only vanished beginning from the
line with the error. Furthermore there were always 2 letters gone,
which have been standing separ ated by another letter. Example:
12345 became 135 (2 and 4 vanished).
I didnīt discover any rules which letters were gone, but it were
quite alot and Iīve been busy for a while to correct them all
(thanks to ispell!). The only thing that worries me is that there
might some formulas be gone which I really canīt check in a
reasonable time.
Today I started with another 90 page document and the same happened
(lotīs of formulas here too). I noticed that the "error" fields were
all placed in(!) words in the sentence previously to the formula
containing the real error, erasing some letters (and definitively at
least 1 formula!).
Now I always "re-load" the document as soon as LyX/LaTeX discovers
any errors to prevent loss of data.
As this were very important documents (vital for my exams due in 2
weeks) you can imagine that I am quite displeased with LyX right
now! I never had much problems with it and thought it a great
program, but as of now I am rather suspicious whenever an error in
my document is displayed!
As I donīt have much time I donīt have the mailing list subscribed
(too much traffic as I recall from last year), so it would be nice
if replies (patches!) could be ccīed to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Thanks.
